The main features of the garden are naturalistic….the sparkling River Test and the wooded river valley sides which bring the surrounding landscape in the garden. There are three areas of formal planting, in the Mediterranean beds; the herbaceous borders; and a bog garden…..and two small woods; one of European trees, the other devoted to varieties of Japanese cherries and pines. There is an extensive wild flower meadow to the side of Bere Mill lane and through the Hangings (under restoration)
